"That's what we want everyone to feel," says Scott, Experience Manager at The Vincent Homestead. "Every single thing we do here is meant to embody that feeling — peace, rest, a divine exhale. When people walk into Selah Lodge, something comes over them that's hard to describe. It just feels like home."

Built on More Than Wood and Stone

Before the drywall went up. Before the decor was hung. Before the 12-seat dining table was carried through the front door — there were just studs.

And on every single one of them, someone had written scripture.

When Todd and Stephanie rebuilt what had once been a simple two-bedroom bunkhouse into the luxury lake view lodge it is today, they invited their closest friends and family out to the property. Before construction was complete, before anyone could stay a single night, those people walked through the frame of the house and covered every internal stud with Bible verses.

"The first time I walked into that place, it was just studs and writing everywhere," Scott says. "Scripture on every beam. It was beautiful. I think every time people go in there, they genuinely feel that God's hand is on that house."

That foundation — invisible now beneath beautiful walls and carefully chosen finishes — is what makes Selah Lodge feel different from the moment you walk through the door. You can't always explain it. But you feel it.

Calling Dibs and Spreading Out

On a tour, people project. They stand in doorways imagining future versions of themselves — I can't wait to be here, I would love to live here. There's hope and desire and beautiful anticipation in every reaction.

"They're calling dibs on bedrooms before they've finished bringing in their bags," Scott laughs. "They sprawl out on the beds, spread into the game room, start moving in. They're soaking up every single moment."

Selah Lodge is a six-bedroom, five-and-a-half bath luxury retreat sleeping up to 18 guests. Five of the six bedrooms have their own private ensuite bathroom. The back bedroom has a soaking tub that gets claimed immediately for every single stay. The bunk room — with its king bed tucked underneath and two singles on top — surprises everyone, because nothing else in the house prepares you for it.

Soaring ceilings and large open windows flood every room with natural light and pull the Texas landscape inside. A 12-seat dining table anchors the main living space. "What we've witnessed around that table is multiple generations of family coming together to celebrate the newest member," Scott says. "You might have grandma, an aunt, a mom, a sister of the groom, and her daughter — four generations around one table, celebrating the growing of a family that all started with them."

One group arrived not long ago — several families together, kids in tow — and turned the property into their own version of summer camp. They scheduled a skeet shoot (kids as young as eight and nine stepped up to shoot, safety coordinator right beside them). They kayaked the lake, swam in the pool, picked wildflowers from the property, and brought in a massage therapist for the parents while the kids wore themselves out outside.

Before they left, they hung a hand-painted banner above the fireplace.
